Frequently asked questions
Common questions about booking, color, extensions, and visiting for the first time. Still have one? Send a message.
Booking
- Use the Book button at the top of any page. Pick your service, choose an available time, and submit your contact details. Kelanie confirms every appointment by email within 24 hours.
- Color and extension services tend to book 2–4 weeks out, especially Fridays and Saturdays. For cuts and styling, 1–2 weeks is usually fine. The availability calendar shows exactly what is open.
- Cancellations are accepted up to 24 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee on future bookings. If something comes up, please reach out as early as possible.
- Not at this time. Deposits for first-time color and extension clients are planned for later this year. For now, a confirmed booking is a commitment — please cancel early if your plans change.
- No. K Bish Designs is appointment-only. This protects every client's time and lets Kelanie prepare for your service properly.

Color services
- It depends on the service. A gloss or toner runs 1–1.5 hours. A full balayage or highlight set can take 3–4 hours. Vivid color services vary based on your starting point. Kelanie will estimate your time at booking and confirm it during consultation.
- Some services, especially those involving lightener or vivid dye, require a patch test 48 hours before your first appointment. Services that require one are marked in the booking flow. Results are kept on file so you only need to test once.
- Sometimes, but it depends on the condition and shade. Box dye can complicate lifting and create unpredictable results. Kelanie will assess at consultation and set realistic expectations before any chemical service.
- Lived-in color and balayage are designed to grow out naturally, so most clients come back every 10–16 weeks. Vivid or fashion color fades faster and may need refreshing every 6–8 weeks. Kelanie will recommend a maintenance schedule at your appointment.
- Come with clean, dry hair and minimal or no product. Avoid heavy oils or masks in the 48 hours prior. If you have inspiration photos, bring them — examples communicate more clearly than descriptions.

Extensions
- Kelanie is a certified DreamCatchers Extensions specialist. DreamCatchers is a no-glue, bead-based system using 100% human hair. The beads grip without adhesive, which is gentler on the hair shaft, and can be repositioned as your hair grows.
- The hair itself lasts 12–18 months with proper care. The beads need to be moved up every 8–12 weeks as your natural hair grows out. Kelanie will walk you through the maintenance schedule at your consultation.
- DreamCatchers work on most hair types, but very fine or damaged hair may need strengthening first. A consultation is required before every extension service so Kelanie can assess your hair and recommend the right approach.
- Brush from the ends up with a loop brush, avoid sulfate shampoos near the root area, and sleep with hair in a loose braid or low ponytail. Kelanie provides a full aftercare guide after your installation.

First-time clients
- Yes. New clients complete a short intake form before their first appointment covering hair history, allergies, and service goals. You will receive a link when your booking is confirmed.
- K Bish Designs is at 512 3rd St, Chair 2, Hudson, WI 54016, inside a shared salon suite building. Hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 10am–4pm, by appointment.
- Cash and major credit/debit cards are accepted. Tipping in cash is appreciated but never required.
- Yes, with some conditions. Youth haircuts are available and great for kids. For chemical services on clients under 18, a parent or guardian must be present. Youth clients can be flagged in your profile so the booking flow knows who is coming in.
